Houthandel van Steen is an artisan cabinetmaker and timber shop with a modern touch, 

located in a former sawmill (since 1960) in the centre of Amsterdam.

In a personal and unfettered way, we design, make and sell beautiful handmade and unique products for people who appreciate authentic materials and workmanship.

True craftsmanship for a fair price. Our furniture is made for living, and therefore it’s built to last a lifetime.

We only use European, sustainably grown wood. Too many square kilometers of rainforest are still being cut down every year, while there’s some great European alternatives. We source our materials as local as possible to limit our CO2 footprint, and we produce more electricity than we use thanks to our warehouse in the far west of the city, with a roof full of solar panels. 

We also provide our neighborhood and our city with one of the most important natural resources and building materials: Solid wood.
